What is the difference between an IN number and a CC number?
Members receive two numbers when they join Crimshield. The CrimCard number (CC number) that you are issued is a specific and fixed member number. Your CC# is printed on your membership card and should be protected. The CC# is designed to be used in person-to-person communications. You can present your CC# to employers, landlords, schools, non-profit organizations and others to allow them to verify you as a crime-free individual. This number should never be posted on the internet as it allows others access to your personal information. The second number that members receive is an IN (Identification Number) which is designed to be used in communications or transactions over the internet. This number may be posted on web sites and used to verify you as a Crimshield member. As the user, you determine how much personal information is released to those who have access to your IN number. The IN number can be changed as often as you like, but only one IN number will be valid at any time
